Take One Community Program is a nonprofit 501 c 3 leadership and recreational organization for youth. It was established in the summer of 1999. Founder and Executive Director Yohannes Bolds, noticed that there were so many youth on the street with idle time on their hands, and felt the need to build a program that would provide options for children and youth.
What started out as a after school program Take One Community Program has grown in numbers over the years. From computer programs to summer camps, children enjoy enriching programs and establish healthy relationships.
Take One currently has over 60 computer labs in the community through the "Closing the Gap" computer program. Several stakeholders such as the Detroit Pistons, Microsoft Corporation, St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Trinity Information Services, Oakland Livingston Human Services Agency, and NAACP are community partners.
